Lady Lions Defeat Providence in Sunday Matinee

The Penn State Lady Lions improved to (6-1,0-0) Sunday defeating the Providence Friars (3-3, 0-0) by a score of 73-66.
FAST START
After two games in the Bahamas, Penn State was lights out in the first quarter. The Lady Lions outscored the Friars 29-9 in the first ten minutes which the team shot 71% from the field and 57% from downtown.
BIRTHDAY GIRL
Shay Ciezki celebrated her birthday by leading the Lady Lions in scoring with 17 points on 6-13 shooting including 3 three-pointers. The sophomore also added 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
FRESHMAN IMPACT
Moriah Murray is the only freshman on this roster but is still making a significant impact. The Dunmore, PA native had 9 points in three possessions Sunday. Murray is averaging 5.7 PPG and shooting 39% from 3-point range.
OTHER FACTORS
Chanaya Pinto continued her strong play after being inserted into the starting lineup. The Oregon transfer had 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. The leader of the Lady Lions Makenna Marisa had 13 points on the day shooting 50% from the field while having the best +/- of the game for her team with a +16.
